Lower Power Consumption Dual-Core A9 Rockchip RK3168 chipset for Tablets

In the recent years' HK Electronics Fair, Rockchip would publish new generation chipsets. And in this year, it released a new dual-core CPU chipset - RK3168. Cause at the moment, Rockchip has quad-core RK3188 and dual-core RK3066 high performance chipsets, RK3168 is not advertised as high efficiency. It's the low power-consumption focused!
Same with RK3188 and RK3066, RK3168 is also based on ARM Cortex-A9 CPU. And it is dual-core with up to 1.2GHz processor speed. Supporting DVFS. While, the GPU used is PowerVR SGX540, which can have up to 600MHz frequency. RK3168 supports DDR3, DDR3L and LPDDR2 standard RAM. It supports normal Nand Flash and eMMC storage. And those tablet computers used RK3168 would be cheaper than those ones used RK3066. This chipset is focused at those customers who have more requirements of the battery life but lower performance!

About the videos, RK3168 can also support 1080P FULL HD  movies! And has dual display showing port, which can support up to 1920*1080 pixel definition!

In the fair, we saw the prototype tablet using RK3168 chipset. According to the information, it can last 8 hours video playing on a 7.0 inch 1024*600 pixel 3000mAh tablet. If using the same display and battery of iPad mini, we can imagine the battery performance can even beyond the iPad mini.

Cause of the limitation of tablet, we did not test the fluence and stability of the tablet computers using RK3168 chipset. If you interest in this, please pay attention to our blog.
